Arsenal star Kieran Tierney admits he still misses ‘everything’ about Celtic and leaving his boyhood club was the hardest decision he has ever made.

The Scotland international joined the Gunners in the summer in a £25million move but has impressed only fleetingly during his first season in the Premier League.

Tierney signed when he was still recovering from a double hernia operation and had to wait until October to make his Premier League debut.

After several eye-catching performances, particularly in the Europa League, the 22-year-old suffered a serious shoulder injury against West Ham in December and has been ruled out of action ever since.

Despite a difficult settling in period, Tierney admits he is proud to represent Arsenal but will always maintain a deep affection for Celtic.

He said: ‘I would say leaving Celtic was the hardest decision I’d ever had to make and I knew I would always miss Celtic no matter what happens in life.

‘But the chance to play for Arsenal was a challenge that when I heard of it, I was just looking forward to it.

‘I miss everything about Celtic. And I always will. I am very grateful for every second I spent playing for the club.’

Tierney was an integral part of dominant Celtic side which dominated the domestic scene and won four SPL titles during his time at the club and enjoyed many a famous win over fierce Glasgow rivals Rangers.

Speaking about his favourite memories of the Old Firm Derby, Tierney added: I have two favourite Glasgow derby matches.

‘One would be winning 5-1 at Ibrox because a scoreline like that doesn’t happen every time in an away game and the next one would be winning the league against them at Celtic Park which is self-explanatory.’
