Arsenal are ready to hijack Tottenham’s move for Dani Ceballos by meeting Real Madrid’s £45million asking price for the Spaniard.

The playmaker is expected to leave the Bernabeu this summer as Madrid look to balance the book after splurging close to £300m on the likes of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Eder Militao.

Ceballos is currently on international duty with Spain’s U21s and has sparkled during the European Championships in Italy, scoring twice so far in the competition.

According to AS, Tottenham are interested in signing the midfielder and have already held talks with Madrid.

However, the report claims Arsenal are more willing to meet Madrid’s €50m (£45m) asking price which could see the playmaker move to the Emirates.

Real Madrid president Florentio Perez is said to be an admirer of Ceballos and will seek to install a buy-back option in any deal that sees him leave the club this summer.

Unai Emery has been given just £45m to spend this summer so would use the entirety of his budget in signing Ceballos.

However, the Spaniard is willing to sell the likes of Mesut Ozil to raise extra funds this summer.
