Arsenal player ratings vs Wolves: Aubameyang gets a four as Arteta's side lose again

Arsenal have now won just one of their last six Premier League matches following a 2-1 home defeat to Wolves. Mikel Arteta‘s side are 14th in the table and have already lost three matches at the Emirates this season. Express Sport has taken an in-depth look at each Arsenal player’s performance and given them a rating out of 10.

Bernd Leno – 6

Leno couldn’t do anything about Wolves’ opening goal, with Pedro Neto smashing in from close range.

But the German perhaps could have dealt with Daniel Podence’s shot better before the Portuguese star expertly finished the rebound.

Had less to do in the second half as Arsenal controlled possession.

Hector Bellerin – 4

Neto and Podence gave Bellerin a night to forget in north London.

Podence in particular caused the Arsenal right-back all sorts of problems.

David Luiz – 5

Luiz came off best in a sickening collision with Wolves striker Raul Jimenez in just the fifth minute at the Emirates.

The Brazilian was able to play the remainder of the first half, though blood could be seen seeping through his bandage.

Luiz didn’t look himself as the Gunners conceded two first-half goals and was replaced by Rob Holding at half time.

Gabriel – 6

Gabriel scored his second goal for the club since his summer arrival with a fine header.

But the Brazilian was unable to keep Pedro Neto’s opener from going in while on the line and committed himself for Daniel Podence’s goal.

Arguably one of his least impressive performances for his new club, despite the goal.

Kieran Tierney – 4

Tierney was run ragged by Adama Traore and often found out of position.

The Scotland international could not prevent Traore’s cross for the opening goal and was often wasteful in good crossing positions. Booked.

Dani Ceballos – 5

Ceballos doesn’t add creativity to the Arsenal midfield currently and isn’t strong defensively.

His position in the side is under threat once Thomas Partey returns from his injury.

Granit Xhaka – 5

Along with Tierney, Xhaka was bullied out of the way by Traore in the build up to Wolves’ second goal.

Good passing stats again but nothing that was causing the Wolves defence any issues. Replaced with 10 minutes to go as Arsenal pushed for an equaliser.

Joe Willock – 5

Willock struggled in his first Premier League game of the season at Leeds last weekend and tonight was not much better.

He has shown in the Europa League he can bring something extra to the Arsenal midfield but cannot replicate that domestically as of yet.

Willian – 5

Willian gets as much as five purely because he contributed his first assist for the Gunners since the opening day win over Fulham.

But the former Chelsea star continues to disappoint though and was wayward with a free kick in a position he is normally deadly from. Substituted after 65 minutes.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 4

Another poor night for the Arsenal captain, who is still yet to score a goal in any competition at the Emirates this season.

The Gabon star has played centrally the last two matches but that has not seemed to help in getting him into more goalscoring positions. Missed a great chance with his head with less than 10 minutes remaining.

Bukayo Saka – 5

Not the best night for the youngster, who missed a great chance early in the second half to level it up for Arteta’s side.

Wasn’t allowed much time on the ball to do what he does best, which is running at defenders.

Rob Holding (for Luiz 46th minute) – 5

Holding did not find it easy against a confident Wolves frontline. Booked.

Reiss Nelson (for Willian 65th minute) – 6

Looked bright when he came on and surely is pushing for a start ahead of Willian.

Alexandre Lacazette (for Xhaka 81st minute) – N/A
