Arsenal icon Paul Merson labels Aubameyang 'frustrating' in damning Champions League claim

“He can drift out the game and then all of a sudden he’ll pop up and score a great goal or be on the end of something.

“But I need him in the game more. I need Aubameyang, he’s my talisman.

“Too many times it’s quite easy for a team to mark him out of the game, you can stop him getting the ball and starve him.

“Something’s got to change soon. It’s Arsenal. At the moment we’re looking and saying, ‘Can Arsenal get top six?’

“In an open league like it is, we’ve talked about Wolves, we’ve talked about Leicester, we’ve talked about Leeds. It doesn’t roll off my tongue that Arsenal are in it.

“Wolves are a dark horse but I don’t see Arsenal being a dark horse.”

Aubameyang, however, is confident Arsenal can find their scoring rhythm in the near future.
