Arsenal have two players under consideration to replace the inconsistent Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports. The France international has scored five goals from 13 Premier League matches this term. And Mikel Arteta is starting to look for an upgrade as he looks to turn the Gunners around.
Lacazette has never been the potent striker Arsenal hoped he would be when they signed him from Lyon back in the summer transfer window of 2017.
Though he scored the winner against Brighton in their Premier League showdown on Tuesday night, the Gunners are concerned about his inconsistency.
And, according to CBS Sports, Arsenal have doubts over the long-term quality of the France international.
Lacazette has recently picked up for the Gunners, scoring three goals in as many games.
But his contract has been allowed to run down towards its final year and, at the current moment in time, a renewal doesn’t appear to be on the cards.
Red Bull Salzburg’s Patson Daka is one player in Arteta’s sights as a result, with the 22-year-old scoring eight goals from as many Austrian Bundesliga matches this term.

Daka has also registered five goals in the Austrian Cup and is likely to be pursued in the summer, rather than the New Year.
Arsenal are admirers of Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard, too.
The 22-year-old hasn’t been as deadly for the Hoops as he was last term but his statistics of seven Scottish Premiership goals from 14 appearances is still respectable.
And, like with Daka, any potential move is more likely to take place at the end of the campaign rather than in January.
Kevin Campbell endorsed a potential move for Edouard earlier in the season, claiming the Celtic star would be the ideal Lacazette replacement.
“There was talk of a move to Arsenal,” the former Gunners striker said.
“They have been utilising Aubameyang from the left and Lacazette is the one that Edouard could come in for.
“Lacazette is the wrong side of 30 now. That move may still happen because Edouard is a really talented player.
“He is a natural goalscorer who is very cute around the box. A player that would be a great addition to anybody but for now he is at a huge club in Celtic.
“He is the top man there and I see him staying there at least until next summer.
“If Celtic get 10 [titles in a row] they might move and shake a little bit.”
Edouard has previously hinted he’d be open to a move away from Glasgow, saying: “I have been here for three seasons.
“For sure after a while I start to think about looking elsewhere and going to find another, higher level Championship.
“But for the time being I’ll continue here, I’ll continue my season and when the right time comes I’ll make the decision to leave.”
Asked if he fancied a move to England or France, he added: “That I really don’t know at all.
“I haven’t really thought about it.
“I don’t know at all. We’ll see where the future takes me.”
