Arsenal 'cursed' as Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney pick up injuries at Burnley

Arsenal supporters have joked that the club remain ‘cursed’ when it comes to injuries after the Gunners lost Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney to fresh fitness problems at Turf Moor. Mikel Arteta’s side were looking to see out a 1-0 lead in the second half in Lancashire when the Spaniard’s numbers were depleted once again.

Partey, who was enjoying a fine afternoon, was pictured signalling to the bench that he needed to come off due to a muscle problem.

The central midfielder was then taken off but that wasn’t the end of it and things would only get worse a matter of minutes later.

Tierney then indicated he needed to leave the field as new signing Nuno Tavares replaced him.

Arteta has already had his fair share of injury problems to contend with this season and now he will be patiently awaiting a positive update on the injured duo.

Gunners fans on social media were quick to point out the club’s frustrating track record when it comes to injuries, labelling Arsenal ‘cursed’.

One tweeted: “Having to bring off Partey & Tierney because of injury we are so cursed. When will it end?”

“How can Partey go from having only 2 injuries before Arsenal to limping off every week. Our club is actually cursed,” another said.

A third posted: “Partey and Tierney injured again, we’re cursed.”

Partey was making only his first start of the season following rehab from an ankle injury.

He had been hampered with the problem since the pre-season defeat to Chelsea before making his return against Norwich last week.

Partey’s introduction proved crucial in the win over the Canaries as he played a part in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s decisive winner.
