ARSENAL returned to winning ways after beating Newcastle 2-0 in another dominant home display.
Bukayo Saka broke the deadlock in the second half but was forced off with injury shortly after.
And his replacement Gabriel Martinelli made a quick impact, doubling Arsenal’s lead after dinking the ball over an onrushing Martin Dubravka with a skilful volley for his first of the season.
The opening goal came at the end of a brilliant 16-pass move with Saka striking a fierce low drive into the bottom right corner.
Arsenal had to remain patient for their breakthrough with Dubravka producing a number of saves – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also hit the post when it was easier to score.
Jonjo Shelvey also had a long-range shot tipped onto the bar by Aaron Ramsdale but the visitors are now without a win in 13 league games.
