Andreas Pereira scored an incredible goal in Manchester United’s pre-season draw with Brentford on Wednesday night as he looks to catch the eye of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The match finished 2-2 at Old Trafford, with youngster Anthony Elanga also scoring for the Red Devils, while Shandon Baptiste and Bryan Mbeumo scored for Brentford.

Pereira’s volley from outside the area was the highlight of the match, though, as the Brazil international brough the house down at Old Trafford.

A sweeter connection will be difficult to come across, as the midfielder returned a clearance from whence it came, with the ball hammering into the underside of the crossbar and across the line.

Elanga’s opener for the Red Devils would have been the best goal in most matches, as the 19-year-old produced his own memorable volley.

The talented Swede got on the end of a cross from Aaron Wan-Bissaka but had an awful lot to do as he powered a right-footed volley into the back of the net from behind him by the penalty spot.

Elanga’s opener came on 12 minutes, before Baptiste equalised just eight minutes later.

Pereira put the home side back in front five minutes into the second half, with Mbeumo levelling up again with 12 minutes to play.

The United starting XI was a mix of youth and experience, with the likes of Tom Heaton, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata bringing up the average age from the younger contingent of Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams, Elanga and Teden Mengi.

Solskjaer chucked on Diogo Dalot at half time and then Donny van de Beek, James Garner, Facundo Pellistri, Dan James, Hannibal Mejbri and Shola Shoretire in the second stanza.

Pereira will have hoped his incredible goal will have caught the eye of his manager after spending last season out on loan at Lazio and his United future looking all but over.
