The American Music Awards 2021 was once again full of its anticipated glitz and glamour with Korean pop group BTS dominating the show.

A star-studded line-up turned out in force at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night as the likes of Olivia Rodrigo and Cardi B dazzled on the red carpet.

Cardi B, 29, made her hosting debut of the show but not before she made two outfit changes for the red carpet.

In the first instance, she stunned in a black floor-length gown with a sequin leopard-print pattern before she quickly changed and reappeared showcasing a solid gold mask as she spoke to reporters at the event.

She donned a beautiful Schiaparelli off-the-shoulder dress for her second outfit and covered her face with the striking gold mask and a black veil.

Inside the ceremony it was BTS who stole the show with a brilliant live performance before they swept up the awards, taking home the gongs for Artist of the Year, Favourite Pop Duo or Group and Favourite Pop Song.

The band took home the the top prize at the world’s largest fan-voted ceremony, beating rival nominees Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd.

Elsewhere, Megan Thee Stallion was awarded the prizes for Favourite Trending Song, Favourite Female Hip-Hop Artist and Favourite Hip-Hop Album but unfortunately wasn’t present to accept the awards.

She took to Instagram to thank her fans for the honours, telling her 26.5 million followers: “Thank you hotties thank you @amas.

“I’m so happy so proud! I couldn’t be there physically this year but like I said I’m so excited for everything to come next year.”
