On a random weekday, high school students around the world found themselves abruptly at the end of term.
The coronavirus pandemic halted all study, meaning many students didn’t get to celebrate their rites of passage: graduation, proms, shirt-signings, and so on.
But one high school in America had their graduation honoured by the school’s bus drivers.
Bus drivers from Ohio’s Loveland City School District wished their 392 seniors the best of luck as they graduate in the class of 2020.
To celebrate the achievement, the drivers lined up the school buses to spell out 2020, catching a panoramic image with a drone.

It took a fleet of 22 buses three and a half hours to get into formation and spell out the year.
The drivers only knew they’d completed the job when an art teacher from the district offered to use a drone to get a bird’s eye view of the whole thing.
In a wholesome video, the seven bus drivers involved were seen looking up at the camera while socially distancing.
We bet the students loved the tribute.
On the school’s website, the bus drivers involved shared why they decided to honour the class.
Driver Jennifer Bloom Bowman wrote: ‘Some of us have been around long enough to transport these kids since kindergarten, and some of us have only been working with the district for a few years, but the one thing we all have in common is the love for our students.
‘This is a huge accomplishment and any way we can show them some love, we will do it. So here’s to the class of 2020. Your bus drivers are proud of all of you.’
Fellow driver Michele Winter added that each student ‘will always hold a special place’.
He said: ‘Every story, every hug, every laugh and every tear with them are memories and sometimes even lessons. To the kids of the past, the present and the future, this is for you!’
The tribute was praised on Facebook where one former student wrote: ‘Super cool! Thank you for all the safe trips!’
