Alan Carr splits from husband Paul Drayton after 13 years together

Alan Carr has split from his husband Paul Drayton after three years of marriage.

The couple were together for 13 years and have made the decision “jointly and amicably”.

The pair wed at a lavish event at singer Adele’s LA house, which she organised, paid for and officiated over.

A spokesperson for the comedian told PA news agency in a statement: “”After 13 years as a couple and three years of marriage, Alan Carr and Paul Drayton would like to announce they are separating.

“They have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go their separate ways.

“We request that their privacy is respected at this sensitive time.”

Their split comes after a rough time for the couple, with Paul battling against alcohol addiction.

Last summer the couple confirmed Paul had fallen off the wagon after he posted a shocking picture of. himself with a black eye and joked that the Chatty Man star had been responsible.

The Channel 4 host was forced to issue a statement in August 2021, explaining that Paul had caused the injury to himself during a drinking binge.

He said: “When I arrived back home from Wales, Paul was covered in scratches and bruises from a drinking binge,” Alan explained in a statement at the time.

“We are now working together to get the help he needs to get better which is our number one priority right now.”

Paul then apologised and clarified how he got the black eye, and confessed he had punched himself in the face, before heading into therapy and rehab.

Alan and Paul had an amazing start to married life, as megastar Adele organised their big day as well as paying for it and officiating the wedding.

The comedian and the chart-topping singer have been close friends since they met in 2008 and he had been open about his desire for her to sing at the wedding.

Speaking on The One Show, Alan said: “We’ve known her for ages, and when we told her we were getting married she said, ‘Can I please plan the whole day for you?’

“She did it all at her house. So, we got in there, and there is a grand piano with a man playing Ordinary People.

“Then she sang with our first dance, it was absolutely amazing. I can never repay her, she’s a one-off as we all know.”

Last month, it was revealed that Paul was set to have holes drilled in his head as part of life saving surgery.

The 50-year-old took to Instagram in December to reveal details of the emergency surgery, and told his followers he would be “offline for a while” as he recovers.
