The 1m6f handicap at 14:25 looks a good race and I’m siding with Kings Advice , who won this race last year, off a mark of 108.
The Mark Johnston-trained runner runs off 104 on Saturday, after a below par performance on unsuitable ground last time out, and that looks very workable indeed.
The ground at Goodwood seems to be getting quicker and quicker all week and Kings Advice loves a quicker surface , with four wins from six runs on good-to-form. He loves it here, having won both his starts at the track, including last year’s Festival triumph
Everything is in place for him to run a massive race from the front, especially with a number of other Johnston runners in the race who could provide Kings Advice with a good deal of protection from horses coming from behind. The 15/2 price looks a bit of value in this field.
A pair at double figure prices for the Stewards
I like two at nice prices in the Stewards Cup at 15:35. First up is the 11/1 chance, Kimifive , who got no run whatsoever in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket’s July Meeting, but looked in good form nonetheless.
He showed on that run that he’s still very well handicapped even on a 4lb higher mark than his last win, which came over seven furlongs around here.
Cieren Fallon takes 3lb of that 4lb off his back and the booking is significant as he’s the go-to claimer in these big handicaps.
Kimifive goes well on the ground (two wins and two places from 14 runs on the surface) and has that seven furlong stamina that will be of use in this big field competitive handicap.
He also has the plum draw in stall one against the far rail on that golden highway of new fresh ground. In all he has a massive chance and is worth an each-way bet.
The other I like in the race at a massive price of 33/1 is Terentum Star . David Griffiths’ eight-year-old is drawn alongside Kimifive in stall two and if he gets on a roll here at this track that he has the running style to run a massive race close to the pace.
He’s well handicapped on a mark of 90 with his last five wins having come off marks of 90, 93, 98, 91 and 95. He has two wins and a place from seven runs on the likely surface and has twice won at this time of year. He’s definitely worth a small each-way bet at a huge price on Betfair.
