Adele has sent shockwaves around the entertainment world after she cancelled her Las Vegas residency only 24 hours before its opening night.

In a tearful video statement on Instagram, she said: “I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready.

“Half my team have Covid and it’s been impossible to finish the show,” she sobbed, adding that her best-laid plans had been left in tatters by “delivery delays”.

The show was supposed to run for 24 nights at the Caesars Palace’s Colosseum.

She said: “I’m sorry, it’s last minute. I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to everyone that’s travelled again.

“We’re going to reschedule all the dates, we’re on it right now. And I’m going to finish my show.”

But despite the promise of a re-do, fans are still likely to be disappointed after reportedly paying anywhere between £60 and £500 for a ticket.

Speaking to the Sun prior to the devastating cancellation, a source said: “Adele is the hottest ticket in Las Vegas right now and she’s raking in a pretty penny from it.

“She is expected to make over £500,000 per gig thanks to ticket sales alone, even before the merchandising. Caesars has rolled out the red carpet to ensure she’s treated like the superstar she is.”

The paper also sensationally claim that some tickets were going for between £700 and £9,000 each.

On some resale sites, tickets for a night at the show were going for as much as £22,000, it was reported by the Independent.

Adele is set to play two shows at London’s Hyde Park as part of the British Summer Time festival while her new album, 30, became the US’s best selling album in 2021 just three days after it was released.
