With the ongoing travel restrictions, the chance of getting some R&R in sunny climes this summer is as touch-and-go as England winning a penalty shoot-out.
So when movie star Luke Evans posted pictures of himself in his Speedos on Australian beaches, he was expecting some flak from pals.
But during his recent stint filming in the country, Luke, 42, became embroiled in his own social distancing nightmare – with an unwelcome guest.
It was a giant huntsman spider, which has a leg span of up to 30cm. Beauty and the Beast star Luke laughs: “One day I did see a huntsman the size of my face.
“As you go towards it, it bends back as if to pounce at you.
“The lady that came to clean the house was like ‘Oh my, it’s just a spider!’ She pulled it by the leg on to the floor.
“It landed on the floor and ran straight back into my bedroom and I couldn’t find it. I had to move rooms.”
And that wasn’t all – the Welshman confessed, on Alan Carr’s Life a Beach podcast: “For the first three weeks I couldn’t sleep with the possums, every animal, all the scratching.”
The Hobbit star better get used to it, as he is now off to spend an “intense” seven months in the Colombian jungle for an Apple TV show.
Deep in the jungle, there will be so many critters and bugs, it’ll be less the rule of six, more the rule of 6,000.
