Abducted Katsina housewife, baby rescued

A joint operation by the police, military and repentant bandits in the early hours of Wednesday rescued a 30-year-old housewife, Fidausi Yusuf, and her seven-month-old baby from suspected kidnappers in the Gwarjo forest in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the development.

He said the security team also killed a suspected bandit, identified as Yunusa Boka, during the operation.

Isah said Fidausi and her baby were taken to the Danmusa Hospital after their rescue and had been reunited with their family.

The police spokesman stated, “Based on intelligence report, a joint operation of the police, military and repentant bandits raided a kidnappers’ den in the Gwarjo forest in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State. After a fierce gun duel with the bandits, the operation succeeded in rescuing one Fidausi Yusuf, 30, of the Burunkunza village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, and her seven-month-old baby, Amin Yusuf, from their captors.

“The operation also succeeded in gunning down a notorious member of the gang of bandits, one Yunusa Boka, who had been terrorising Danmusa and Kankara local government areas of the state.”
