A Wimbledon pub is offering a free Christmas dinner to anyone on their own on the big day

Most people associate Christmas as a time spent with loved ones.

But, for various reasons, this isn’t always possible for everyone.

Whether it’s an older relative who lives far away from their family, international students or simply those who don’t have many people in their lives – there’s a whole cohort of individuals who might be spending the big day on their own this year.

However, just because someone is on their own doesn’t mean they should miss out on festive merriment.

This is something very much championed by a pub in Wimbledon – so much so, that it’s offering a free Christmas dinner to anyone who might be alone on December 25.

The Alexandra has been laying on this tradition since 2014, to ensure that people don’t feel lonely on Christmas Day – and this year is no different.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to the yuletide shindig and you don’t even have to live locally to get an invite.

Individuals spending Christmas on their own who would like some company simply need to head to the pub between 12pm and 3pm on Christmas Day.

Guests will be placed on tables of either four, six or eight and will be able to feast on a three-course festive meal with wine – all without costing a penny.

The pub wrote on Twitter: ‘Are we doing it again this year? Course we are!!  Our “don’t be on your own on Christmas Day” dinner is going to be bigger than ever.

‘No strings, no catch, if you’re going to be on your own on Christmas Day, don’t be. Come to us instead for a FREE dinner, with FREE vino. COME!!’

So if you know anyone spending December 25 alone this year, be sure to spread the word – in the spirit of Christmas.
